if you like compact size, i’d like to recommend cannon ‘s Ixus series from 4mega pixel to ~~. i have that now and you can bring that everywhere if you want . you can hold it in your hand
The IXUS is the name for the PowerShot series outside of the US. Same cameras though. When I upgraded my S100 I opted to stick with what I know and got the S400. I’m happy with it.
sally & saadiq » a cannon camera seems a big candidate… thank you!
Dear Tomo! I would recommend to wait a little more. Canon did not release any important models in compact category this year (except for S-60) and since they have an on-going brand war with Sony, it is very possible that they shortly end up upgrading the IXY series. The IXY400/450 is a nice camera but completely lacks manual mode, than IXY 500 is an upgrade in terms of internal memory but same size 5 megapixel CCD is not such a gain considering that images show more noise and are less sharp (or so I have heard). Since Sony has a very competitively priced and “appealing” models on the market already (W-1, P-100) Canon surely will respond to that with something better. August – September seems like a possible release time. Worth waiting a bit more, and by that time you will have more options and older models will drop in price!.
On a separate note. I have been thinking myself about another (more compact) camera as an upgrade to Canon G-2 but in the mean time I have got a very sexy model – 3.2 megapixel Minolta XG (solely based on price). The camera is fully automatic, very small and handy, but lens show rather bad vignetting in wide position, and camera has tendency to turn in pinkish pictures under mixed or dimmer light, so I would not easily recommend it to anyone. Also auto focus is totally useless around and after sunset (no manual focus or preset distances to choose from) so this is basically DAY TIME camera only. All that said I still have a lot of fun with it, and for the money this is a very good value. This is my first true “carry it always” camera and FUN factor is high enough to keep my interest on.
tomo – if you’re looking for something small and sexy, check-out the sony T1 or the T11. they’re a little pricey, but they offer 5.1 megapixels and are super cute.
Very cool perspective!
Both my digital cameras are Canons. I highly recommend.
Pal, kelly & David » thank you so much for the info. seems i should wait a bit more. ;-) Andrea & raquo; thank you!
Very nice shot.. lots of camras ;-)
We just bought a Nikon 2200 for my boyfriends parents, but that one is also only 2MP. A friend of ous bought a Canon S1 that looked really cool (3.2 MP I think). Then agaian, size (=MPs) isn’t everything.
